Binders:

Your child will have a binder this year.  This binder will include a calendar, reading log, homework folder, and other helpful information.  We may be adding more to the binder throughout the year, so please check it frequently.

 

Behavior System:

Positive behavior is expected by all students.  Each child is expected to make good choices throughout their learning day.  In our classroom, the students will be using color-coded chart where they can clip up and/or down as part of our behavior plan.  It is very important that you are aware of your child’s behavior.  Each night, your child will bring home their binder.  There will be a monthly calendar in the binder.  Your child will color a dot that will reflect your child’s behavior each day.  Please take the time to discuss this with your child and initial the calendar each night. You will find the color-coded system we will be using below.  Please refer to this as needed throughout the school year.

Blue – Great Job

Teal – Good Day

Green – Ready to Learn

Yellow – Think About It  (Remember to make better choices.)

Orange – Teacher’s Choice

Red – Parent Contact

* If a student needs to clip down from red, an office referral form will be completed.

Thursday Folders:

Your child will bring home a Thursday folder which will contain their classwork and important parent letters for the week.  Please review the work inside the folder with your child.  Then, please sign the paper on the outside of the folder.  The folder needs to be returned each Friday.

Lunch/Lunch Money: 

Our lunch time is 11:40-12:05.  Please meet us at the cafeteria if you are coming to eat with your child.  Please send lunch money to school in an envelope or plastic baggie with your child's name, teacher's name, and lunch number labeled on the outside.  Lunch money will be collected each morning and sent to the cafeteria.

Water Bottles and Snack: 

Snacks will be eaten at an assigned time during class.  Students must bring their own individual snack.  Please make healthy snack choices.  Students are allowed to bring in water bottles to have at their desk during the instructional day.  Any other drinks will not be allowed in the classroom.

Enhancements: 

We will have enhancements (P.E., Art, and Music) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:35-3:15 P.M. Please make sure your child is prepared for these days.  Your child will not be allowed to call home on days that forget to wear tennis shoes for P.E. or for any other forgotten item for enhancements.
